In June 2018 Australia Post’s Social Design Team set up a pop-up space in Footscray as a live space for bringing people together to identify, design and develop services that build more inclusive and connected communities.
The AP Co-Lab is the first of its kind for Australia Post and the team is working to bring the assistance of Australia Post in new ways to as many people as possible in relation to issues like social exclusion and isolation.
The team chose Footscray because it’s one of the most culturally diverse suburbs in inner Melbourne, Victoria. It’s the service hub for the greater west and offers the team the opportunity to deeply understand what makes a major urban centre inclusive.
The learnings and ideas coming out of Footscray are intended to be scalable and relevant to other communities across Australia.
The resources provided on this site are one such example. The resources draw on the team’s experience in Footscray and the various tools and methodology they’ve applied to the problems and opportunities they’ve uncovered in collaboration with the community.
